Pollie's Very First Lesson

by Katyayani
(Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India)

Pollie the panda was chubby and wee,
She chomped on her bamboo with utmost glee.
It was peaceful and calm - no one round;
She knew to do this she was bound.
But then came a butterfly that grabbed her attention,
She didn't know what to do; she was in great tension!
Atlast, she chose to chase the fly as in her arm the bamboo she huddled,
Alas! The queen of beauty led her to a puddle.
Splash! She fell as she began to cry,
To get up, many a times did she try.
Mommy panda came running to Pollie to stop the struggle,
And made Pollie promise to never go near a puddle!

Pollie's Very First Lesson
by: Denise

Thanks for sending your poem, Katyayani! Pollie's Very First Lesson is a ballad, as it tells a story. Good use of rhyme and rhythm (Alas! Splash!). Keep up the good work and keep on writing! - Denise
